Description

Delicious baked goods for the whole family. A couple of weeks ago, I found an old waffle iron at my grandmother's attic, cleaned it up, and decided to try making waffles "just like in childhood." They turned out absolutely amazing. And after that, as they say, it took off... I've tried a huge number of waffle recipes, both sweet and savory, with various add-ins. Among the savory waffles, potato waffles impressed me the most. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Peel the potatoes and onions, then rinse them.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Grate the potatoes on a fine grater, place in a deep bowl, and pour milk over them. Let sit for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Meanwhile, finely chop the onion and sauté in vegetable oil until translucent and soft.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

After 30 minutes, drain the potatoes from the milk, then add fried onions, eggs, 2 tablespoons of sour cream, and salt. Mix everything thoroughly without adding flour yet. This is necessary so you can see the dough's consistency and understand how much flour you need to add.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Now add half of the flour and mix. The mixture should have a consistency similar to thick sour cream. If your dough is thinner, add more flour.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Turn on the waffle iron in advance so that it starts heating up. Take a piece of bacon on a fork and wipe both surfaces of the waffle iron with it. This will ensure even greasing.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Pour 1 tablespoon of batter onto the lower part of the waffle maker (if you want small waffles like mine), close with the top part, and cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. The batter made 12 small waffles for me.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Now let's prepare the sauce. Peel the cucumber and grate it on a coarse grater. Add 4 tablespoons of sour cream, salt to taste, and squeeze in a couple of garlic cloves. Adjust everything in the sauce to your taste: if you like more garlic, feel free to add extra.

    Step 9

Serve the ready potato waffles with cucumber sauce and enjoy!
