Minsk-style potato pancakes

Description

With a minimum of ingredients, you get a delicious dish that is perfect not only for a family lunch but also for welcoming desired guests. You can add sautéed mushrooms or any seasonal vegetables to the meat filling, but even without any additional ingredients, the meat layer provides such a wonderful flavor that it will be nearly impossible to resist this original take on draniki. Be sure to give it a try. The baking is ready. Serve at the table.

    1. Prepare all the ingredients.

    2. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater, squeeze out the moisture, and transfer to a deep bowl.

    3. Add eggs, flour, two crushed garlic cloves, salt, and spices to taste.

    5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and, using a tablespoon to shape the potato mixture, fry the potato pancakes. Cook the pancakes on both sides until a golden crust forms.

    6. Then, in the same skillet, sauté the ground meat, breaking it up with a spatula. Do not cook for too long—just until the meat turns light in color. At the end, add garlic pressed through a garlic press, salt, and spices to taste.

    7. Place the prepared potato pancakes in a single layer in a baking dish.

    10. Then repeat the layer of pancakes and the layer of meat filling. You can have as many layers as you like, but it's sufficient to have three layers of pancakes and two layers of filling. The top layer should be pancakes, which should also be generously coated with sour cream. Cover the dish with foil or a lid and place it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes.
