Baked potato casserole with meat in the oven
Description
I slice the potatoes for the casserole into thin slices so they cook through well and the dish prepares faster. You can use chicken, beef, or pork; in this recipe, I'm using ground beef. The casserole can be served for dinner or lunch, and it's good both warm and cold.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
In a skillet, sauté the ground meat, season with salt and pepper, cook for 10 minutes, then transfer to a plate.

Step 2
In a saucepan, melt the butter, add finely chopped onion and sauté for a couple of minutes, then add the flour, stir well and cook for 1 minute.

Step 3
Pour in the milk in a thin stream, add a crushed thyme sprig, and keep stirring constantly. Once a thick mixture forms, remove the pan from the heat and add 200 grams of grated cheese, mixing well.

Step 4
Peel the potatoes and wash them, then slice them thinly. Place half of the potatoes in a baking dish, then add a layer of minced meat and the prepared sauce.

Step 5
Place the remaining potatoes on top of the meat filling and preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 6
Remove the casserole from the oven, take off the foil, sprinkle with the remaining cheese, and return to the oven for another 20 minutes.

Step 7
Remove the ready casserole from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes, then cut into pieces and serve.
