Potato casserole with minced meat and tomatoes
Description
Perfect as a side dish for tea and coffee. To properly bake the casserole, simply layer ingredients evenly so everything cooks thoroughly. Potatoes are usually placed as the first layer. On top goes the minced meat, meat, or mushrooms. The top layer is usually the juiciest one, allowing its juices to drip down and moisten the lower layers. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Step 1

First, peel the potatoes. Rinse and slice them into rounds. Peel the onion and cut it into half-rings. Add 50 g of mayonnaise to the bowl with the onion and potatoes, season with salt and pepper, and mix well.

Step 2

Now transfer the minced meat to another bowl. Finely chop the second onion. Grate the garlic on a grater. Add salt and pepper. Mix well.

Step 3

Take a frying pan or a baking tray with high sides. Grease it with oil. Place the potato and onion mixture as the first layer. On top of it, add the minced meat. Slice the tomatoes and place them over the meat. Spread mayonnaise or sour cream on top, as desired. Bake in the oven at 200°C (392°F) for 50 minutes.

Step 4

After 50 minutes, remove the tray. Sprinkle the tomato layer with grated cheese and return it to the oven for 10-15 minutes. When the cheese melts and becomes bubbly, it's ready to take out. Everything is done—serve the casserole in its own juice!
