Homemade French Fries
Description
A tasty appetizer for any gathering. Let's try French fries recipes! You can make French fries at home, even without a deep fryer or other special equipment—a regular saucepan will do, and the result will be indistinguishable from French fries at a fast-food restaurant. The kids will be delighted :) And as a snack with beer, for example, these fries are wonderful. And as a side dish with any meat or fish dish. Of course, such fries are quite unhealthy, but sometimes you can treat yourself :) Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat all the vegetable oil. It should come to a boil.
- 2
Step 2

While the butter is heating, cut the peeled and washed potatoes into thin matchsticks. The size should be slightly larger than finished French fries—you surely know what those look like.

Step 3

Season the sliced potatoes with salt and let them dry. If there are droplets of water on the potatoes, you’ll get a fireworks show when you put them in the oil. So dry the potatoes thoroughly.

Step 4

When the butter comes to a boil, add the diced potatoes. Fry for 3–4 minutes, then remove from the pot with a slotted spoon.

Step 5

Crispy on the outside but soft inside, the French fries are ready—and you didn't even need a deep fryer. All that's left is to wait for the oil to drain off the potatoes, and then you can serve them with ketchup or another favorite sauce.
