Carp on coals in foil
Description
It's best to cook any fish fresh—caught and then prepared right away. So if you're going fishing, bring along some charcoal and a grill. If you manage to catch a carp, you can prepare it using this excellent recipe. To cook carp over charcoal in foil, take a carp (mine weighed 1.2 kg), a couple of lemons, some cucumbers, onions, and plenty of spices (I usually use just salt and a fish seasoning blend of various herbs).
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Rinse the carp, and you can cut off the head if you wish.
- 2
Step 2

Gut the fish. Finely chop the onion and cucumbers, and stuff them into the carp. Make diagonal cuts on the top of the fish body at 1.5–2 cm intervals. Insert lemon slices into the cuts.

Step 3

Rub with spices and salt. Carefully wrap the carcass in foil.

Step 4

Bury the fish in the coals and cook for about 25 minutes. My carp, weighing 1.2 kg, was fully cooked in this time. If the fish is larger, it will require more cooking time.

Step 5

Unwrap the foil and check if the carp is ready.

Step 6

Serve the ready carp grilled in foil with fresh vegetables. With vodka in the great outdoors — you can't think of anything better!
