Pockets with apple turnovers

60 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Homemade pastries for tea. Parchment paper pockets can hold not only apple turnovers, but any pastries that have a rectangular shape. The parchment paper packets serve not only an aesthetic purpose, but also a protective one—you won't get your hands messy, especially if the pastries have a very juicy filling. In this pastry, the apple flavor harmoniously combines with cinnamon and nutmeg. Indeed, it's delicious.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Mix the water with baking soda and stir. Pour this liquid into a pan, add the butter, and stir constantly until the butter melts. Then add sugar, a pinch of salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the pan. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Cut the apples into small cubes. If the apple skin is not too tough, you can leave it on; otherwise, it's better to peel the apples, as this will result in a more delicate filling. Add the apples to the skillet with the aromatic sauce and mix well.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Cook the apples, stirring frequently, until soft and lightly caramelized.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Thaw the puff pastry and roll it out to a thickness of 3 mm.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Cut the dough into rectangles approximately 4x7 cm. The number of rectangles should be even.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Place the apple filling on half of the rectangles, leaving about 5-7 mm at the edges.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Brush the edges with beaten egg, cover with rectangles of dough, and press the edges with a fork to seal. The egg wash will help the dough stick together well. Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg as well and make small slits. Transfer the buns onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

While the buns are baking, make parchment paper wrappers for them. To do this, take a sheet of parchment paper approximately 30x40 cm. Place it vertically in front of you. Fold down the top approximately one-fifth part downward.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Then fold the lower part in half and tuck it up.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Fold it so that the back part is slightly higher than the front.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

Flip it over and fold it into thirds, tucking the edge toward the center.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

Turn it right side out – you’ll get a little pocket that’s perfect for holding an apple turnover.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

Put apple turnovers into paper wrappers. Now they are convenient to eat, and you don't have to worry about getting messy. Serve with tea. Enjoy your meal!
