Description

Delicious baked treat for the whole family. These cookies (Hamantasch) are traditional Jewish triangular-shaped pastries enjoyed during the Jewish holiday of Purim. The most common fillings are poppy seed and prunes. The dough is typically made with added orange zest. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

    1. Beat butter and cheese together with a mixer until smooth. Add sugar and beat for 1 minute. Add egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and salt; mix well. Then add flour and beat until combined. The mixture should be slightly sticky. If the dough is too sticky, add an additional 1 tablespoon of flour. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 175°F. Roll out the dough on a well-floured surface to a thickness of 6 mm. Use a round cutter to cut the dough into circles. Place a spoonful of jam in the center of each.
