Wedding bread loaf made by hand
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Baking a wedding bread is a serious and responsible task. If you know how to work with dough, then you have nothing to fear; everyone else should practice beforehand to get a feel for the dough and learn how to properly cut decorations and bake the bread. I hope this recipe explains everything in detail and in an easy-to-understand way.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Put the yeast into a glass or small bowl, add a teaspoon of sugar and 4-5 tablespoons of warm milk. Stir and place in a warm spot until the yeast rises with a foamy cap.
- 2
Step 2

Pour the remaining warm milk into a large bowl, add sour cream, eggs, sugar, melted butter, vanilla sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in the yeast solution and add one-third of the sifted flour. Mix and place in a warm spot, let it rise.
- 4
Step 4

When the sponge rises, add the flour and knead until you get a smooth dough that doesn't stick to your hands. You might need a little less or a little more flour. Place the dough in a warm spot and let it rise until tripled in volume. Then punch down the dough and let it rise once more.
- 5
Step 5

Now divide the dough into two parts. Divide one of the parts further into 1/3 and 2/3.
- 6
Step 6

From the part of the dough that is 2/3, form two thin and long sausages.
- 7
Step 7

And twist them into a rope braid.
- 8
Step 8

You can bake the loaf on a baking sheet or in a pan on parchment paper. Place the largest portion of the dough, kneaded into a smooth, round ball, in the center of the baking sheet. Then, arrange the braid around it at a small distance, joining its ends together.
- 9
Step 9

While the bread is rising, let's work on the decorations. Knead in some more flour to the remaining dough—can't say exactly how much. The dough should be firm and roll out very, very thinly. Cut little flowers out of the rolled dough.
- 10
Step 10

This is how you can decorate the flowers.
- 11
Step 11

We are making braids.
- 12
Step 12

Braided rings
- 13
Step 13

More flowers.
- 14
Step 14

Ears. Lightly moisten all the flower-ears with water and attach them to the loaf.
- 15
Step 15

When the loaf has risen, prick it in 5-6 different places. Let it rise for another 15 minutes, brush with egg yolk diluted with water, and place in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for about 15 minutes. Then cover the loaf with foil, reduce the temperature to 170°C (340°F), and continue baking until done. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer. Once the loaf is ready, turn off the oven, open the door slightly, remove the foil, and let the loaf sit in the oven for another 15 minutes.
