Caramel Apple Pie

60 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The recipe won't take much time. You can use not only white but also brown sugar; an ideal option is 50*50 (half a cup of white sugar and half a cup of brown sugar), giving the sauce a caramel hue and flavor. The cake is thin and incredibly tender, very sweet and not at all difficult to make. Give it a try. It can be served with tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the ingredients — and let's get started! I'm using a basic shortcrust pastry (butter + flour); there are plenty of recipes on the site, so choose any one you like!

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

In addition to the listed ingredients, you will also need lemon juice or citric acid (for working with apples). Wash the apples, peel them, and dip them in lemon juice to prevent browning. Cut off the sides of the apple down to the core, turn the apple, and slice off the remaining sides. Cut each apple piece into thin slices and dip them in lemon juice.

    Step 3

    Step 3

Here are the petals of the future little rose.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the apples. Gently mix by hand and let them sit for 30 minutes to release their juice.

    Done!

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Carefully squeeze the apples to extract the juice. The juice will be needed for cooking the sauce.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Spread the shortcrust pastry over the pan, form the edges, and prick with a fork to prevent the dough from puffing up during baking. And now the most interesting part: arrange the apple petals overlapping in a circle, standing tightly together in neat rows.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Roll the last two or three petals into a tube and place them in the center of the rose. Cover the pie with foil and bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 190–200 degrees. Then remove the foil and let the pie brown on top for another 10 minutes.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

While the pie is baking, prepare the caramel sauce. To do this, bring the apple juice (strained from the apple petals) to a boil and reduce by half. Then add the heavy cream and mix, remove from heat. Let the sauce cool.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

The pie and sauce are ready, only the final touch remains...

    Step 11

Drizzle the cake with caramel sauce and serve it cooled.
