Cabbage with minced meat
Description
The recipe won't take much time. You need to quickly and deliciously feed your family, but time is running short—doesn't everyone know this situation? In such cases, I recommend turning to the classic recipe for cabbage with minced meat. It's tasty and filling. This dish is especially popular among elderly people. Their teeth easily manage the soft and juicy meat, and cabbage is even easier to chew :) I hope the step-by-step photos will help you prepare the dish successfully. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel the onion and cut into cubes.
- 2
Step 2

Lightly sauté the onion in vegetable oil. It's better to use a pan with high sides — we'll be cooking the filling with cabbage in this same pan.
- 3
Step 3

While the onion is frying, let's prepare the carrots. Peel them and grate on a coarse grater.
- 4
Step 4

Add the minced meat to the onion in the frying pan and sauté for about 3-5 minutes. Initially, the meat will clump together; I break it apart with a fork.
- 5
Step 5

Now add the grated carrots, mix well. Season with salt and pepper. Fry for about 10 minutes.
- 6
Step 6

We slice the cabbage. You can cut it into small strips, or a bit larger—whatever you prefer :) Lightly salt it and slightly crush to make the cabbage softer.
- 7
Step 7

Place the cabbage in the pan with the minced meat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Then mix, cover with a lid, and simmer until the cabbage is cooked. Some prefer the cabbage very soft, others like it a bit crunchy. If your cabbage is very juicy, there will be a lot of liquid in the pan. If you don't like that, leave the pan uncovered.

Step 9

3-4 minutes before the end of cooking, add finely chopped tomato to the cabbage. Alternatively, you can use a spoonful of tomato paste or tomato purée instead of fresh tomato.
