Description

Dishes made from cabbage are popular in many countries around the world. I suggest you try this recipe for Hungarian-style cabbage. This dish is quite easy to prepare and requires almost no effort. The aromatic and tasty Hungarian-style cabbage will be a great addition to boiled potatoes. So let's get started. 1. Finely shred the cabbage, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, pepper, and cumin, then gently press down. Add finely chopped garlic and mix well. 2. Slice the smoked pork fat into thin pieces and line the bottom and sides of a baking dish with them. Reserve a few slices for the top layer. Place half of the prepared cabbage into the dish. 3. Peel the onion and pepper. Slice the onion and tomatoes into rings, and cut the pepper into strips. If you don't have tomatoes, you can replace them with tomato sauce or tomato paste. 4. Place the prepared pepper, onion, and tomatoes on top of the cabbage. Season with salt and sprinkle with paprika. Reserve a few onion rings and tomato slices for decorating the top layer. 5. Add the remaining cabbage and pour lightly diluted apple juice over it. 6. Place the reserved pieces of pork fat on top, followed by the onion rings and tomato slices. 7. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 180–200°C (356–392°F) and cook for about 30 minutes covered. Then remove the cover and let the top layer—the pork fat, onion, and tomatoes—brown slightly. That's it!
