Catalan-style cannelloni
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Catalonia and Italy are not the closest regions in culinary terms, yet there are similar dishes in both areas. In particular, cannelloni is known as an Italian dish, although it is also very popular in Catalonia. The Catalan-style preparation of cannelloni has its own unique characteristics, which you can see in this recipe with photos. The result is quite original—Catalan-style cannelloni are unlike the Italian version of this dish. In short, it's worth trying. Good luck! Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Coarsely chop all the meat ingredients and sauté in a pan with olive oil until partially cooked. Season with salt and pepper.
- 2
Step 2

When the meat is half-cooked, add coarsely chopped onion and unpeeled garlic to the pan. Five minutes before it's done, pour wine into the pan. Remove the cooked meat from the heat.
- 3
Step 3

Now we're making béchamel – that's where the magic is. First, melt the butter.
- 4
Step 4

Add a tablespoon of flour to the melted butter.
- 5
Step 5

Constantly stirring, cook until golden in color—like in the photo.
- 6
Step 6

Add a glass of warm milk to this mixture.
- 7
Step 7

Whisk well with a whisk, add salt, pepper, and optionally nutmeg. Bring to a thick consistency and remove from heat.
- 8
Step 8

We let the fried meat with onions and garlic cool down.
- 9
Step 9

Boil the cannelloni sheets according to the instructions on the package—usually about 15 minutes. Place the cooked cannelloni sheets onto a clean towel.
- 10
Step 10

Finely, finely chop the meat, onion, and garlic. I mean chop, not grind through a meat grinder or food processor!
- 11
Step 11

Fill the cannelloni sheets with chopped meat.
- 12
Step 12

Place the cannelloni on individual serving plates. A portion consists of 3-4 tubes. Pour béchamel sauce on top and sprinkle lightly with grated cheese.
- 13
Step 13

Place in a preheated oven for 4-5 minutes—and serve immediately!
