Description

Perfect for the table and with drinks. Bright canapés with red caviar are sure to catch every guest’s eye. Shape them like horseshoes to win over the symbol of the approaching New Year—the Horse! Make this appetizer together with children; they adore such unique dishes. If you like, you can lightly toast the cut-out bread centers in vegetable oil for a crunchier base.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Buy toast bread or a sliced loaf; horseshoe shapes are easiest to cut from these.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Place the bread slices on a board or plate. Using a large salad ring, cut a circle from the soft center only, being careful not to cut into the crust.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Using a small salad ring, a cream piping tip, or a cookie cutter, cut a circle in the middle of a large circle. Immediately cut out a section, shaping the crumb into a horseshoe.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Thus, form the remaining horseshoes from the bread using whatever tools you have on hand. Coat the tops and sides with melted cheese.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Dip the tips of some of the horseshoe-shaped pieces in black sesame seeds, others in chia seeds, and the rest in white sesame seeds.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Place the lightly salted red caviar on top. You can use trout, coho salmon, sockeye, or pink salmon caviar.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

From half a cucumber, use a vegetable peeler to cut long strips, cut them in half, and roll them into small rosettes. Place them on the horseshoe bases. Garnish the canapés with fresh greens and serve on the holiday table. Happy New Year to you!
