Homemade-style jullienne

60 min4 serv.19 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Although I adapted this homemade version of julienne to my own taste preferences, overall it is quite similar to the classic version. Therefore, I really hope you will enjoy this julienne too, and if anything in this recipe doesn't suit your taste, you can always adjust or add certain ingredients. Specifically, in this simple homemade julienne recipe, I used dried mushrooms, but you can use fresh ones instead. However, I strongly recommend using porcini mushrooms—they give the julienne a rich and sophisticated flavor. The finished dish is ready to be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

First, we place the dried mushrooms in a frying pan, pour boiling water over them, and season with salt to taste. Put the mushrooms on low heat, cover the pan with a lid, and simmer gently until they become completely soft.

Next, we peel the onion and chop it into small cubes.

When the mushrooms have absorbed almost all the water and softened, add the onion to the skillet, mix everything together, and cook for a few more minutes until the onion becomes soft and translucent.

Turn off the heat, set the mushrooms aside for now, and proceed to prepare the sauce. Take a saucepan or a small pot, place it over heat, and melt the butter in it.

Add the flour to the melted butter and quickly mix everything well to avoid lumps. Cook the flour in the butter over low heat for 1-2 minutes.

After that, we should pour milk into the saucepan, continuing to stir the mixture.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Next, distribute the sautéed mushrooms with onions into ramekins and season the mushrooms with ground pepper to taste. Instead of ramekins, you can use pots or oven-safe molds.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Place a layer of grated cheese on the mushrooms.

  11. 11

Pour the prepared sauce over everything, almost to the very top.

  12. 12

Place a little more cheese on top and put the ramekins in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
