Julienne in the Microwave
Description
It works for holidays and everyday meals alike. In Russia the way ingredients are cut for this dish is slightly adapted: instead of julienne strips, we’re used to chopping everything into small pieces. The flavor and quality of the dish don’t suffer—trust me. In France, julienne is traditionally served in small individual ramekins. If you don’t have those, it’s no problem. I’m sure every home cook has something you can bake and serve julienne in, portion by portion. This simple microwave recipe has saved me more than once. I hope it saves you too! 1. Cut the chicken fillet into small cubes or julienne strips. 2. Place in a microwave-safe dish, add a couple of spoonfuls of water. Cover with a lid and microwave on full power for 8–10 minutes. 3. While the chicken cooks, clean and wash the mushrooms. Cut them the same way as the chicken. 4. Add the mushrooms to the chicken and microwave for 5–6 minutes. 5. Make the sauce: mix cream, flour, salt, and spices. 6. Divide the chicken fillet and mushrooms among small ramekins or bowls. 7. Grate the cheese on the coarse side of a grater. Pour the sauce over the chicken and mushrooms and sprinkle with cheese. 8. Microwave on full power (if you have convection mode, you can use it) for 5–7 minutes. The julienne is done! If you have a French baguette, serve it alongside and you’ll have an almost French evening ;)
