Description

To prepare this dish, you'll need just a few ingredients. This recipe is perfect both for a family dinner at home and for a festive gathering with many guests. The method of preparing julienne is quite simple and won't take more than 1.5 hours. The result, however, is simply stunning. Be sure that right after the meal, curious hostesses will be asking you to share your cooking secrets. 1. Prepare the mushrooms. If using frozen mushrooms, thaw them naturally in a cool place or on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Clean fresh mushrooms thoroughly and slice them into medium-sized pieces. 2. Thinly slice the onion into strips or half-rings, and grate the cheese. Heat a skillet well, adding a small amount of olive oil. Sauté the onion until soft. Add the mushrooms, mix well, and continue frying for another 7 minutes. 3. Pour in the cream, season with salt and pepper, and continue simmering until the cream thickens to a sour-cream-like consistency. 4. Spoon the mixture into ramekins or other individual baking dishes, sprinkle with herbs and cheese. Place the ramekins in an oven preheated to 200°C (390°F). The dish is ready when the cheese develops a golden crust and the filling begins to bubble—this usually takes about 7–8 minutes. Be careful not to overbake, as the cheese may become too tough. 5. Right before serving, garnish each portion with a small pinch of fresh herbs.
