Berry Jelly for Winter
Description
Making tasty berry jelly for winter is quite simple. For this recipe I prefer to use blueberries specifically, because they have an incredibly beautiful color and a distinctive flavor—perhaps the best of all the berries available to us (although there's no arguing about taste!). To all blueberry lovers, I offer a simple way to make great jelly for winter. It's all simple! First we mash the berries, then mix them with sugar, add zest, bring to a boil, then add lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg, cook for another 20 minutes, and seal in jars. Simple and brilliant—and so delicious! Good luck and :) Store in a cool, dark place.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Rinse the blueberries thoroughly under running water.
- 2
Step 2

Transfer the blueberries to a saucepan (preferably one with a thick bottom) and crush them with a pestle or spoon. Add the sugar and mix well. Place on the stove, set to medium heat, and bring to a boil.
- 3
Step 3

Meanwhile, squeeze the lemon juice, finely grate the lemon zest, and add it to the berries.
- 4
Step 4

Also add cinnamon and nutmeg to the berries.
- 5
Step 5

After the berries come to a boil, pour in the lemon juice, stir, and continue boiling for another twenty minutes until the jelly begins to thicken.

Step 6

While cooking, stir the jelly as often as possible so it does not burn. The result should be a fairly thick jelly with a consistency similar to jam. After 20 minutes, the finished berry jelly can be poured into pre-warmed canning jars and sealed for winter storage.
