Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. If using young cabbage, reduce the cooking time. Instead of tomato paste and water, you can use canned tomatoes or homemade tomato sauce. The ready dish can be served.

Step 1

To prepare cabbage stew, gather the ingredients. You can use either winter varieties of cabbage or young cabbage, depending on the season. You may add any vegetables and spices to the stew, as well as herbs and mushrooms, if desired. For the minced meat, you can use ready-made (pork, beef, chicken, or mixed) or prepare it yourself.

Step 2

Place the pan over medium-high heat, heat it, and pour in the vegetable oil. Add the prepared minced meat and fry, stirring and breaking up the lumps with a wooden spatula.
- 3
Step 3

Prepare the vegetables. Mince the garlic. Cut the onion into cubes. Cut the cabbage and carrots into medium-sized pieces so they remain whole when frying.
- 4
Step 4

Add the onion and garlic to the fried minced meat, mix and sauté until the onion becomes translucent and soft.
- 5
Step 5

Next, add the carrots and sun-dried tomatoes. Dilute the tomato paste with a small amount of water and add it to the pan. Simmer the dish over medium heat until excess moisture has evaporated.
- 6
Step 6

Season with salt to taste, add ground black pepper and bay leaf. For extra flavor, you can optionally add a pinch of chili pepper.
- 7
Step 7

Place the prepared cabbage and mix well. Cover the frying pan with a lid and simmer for another 20 minutes, until the cabbage is cooked. During this time, all the flavors will blend together and become infused with the aromas of the spices.

Serve the cabbage stew with fresh herbs.
