Description
This recipe for canned fried onions for winter is simple, economical, and won't require much effort from you. During the vegetable season, onions can be bought for next to nothing, and you can prepare as many jars as you like. In winter, you won't have to cry over every bulb for soup or a side dish. Serve at the table or store in the pantry.

1. Wash the onion, peel it, and finely chop it.

2. Heat the oil well in the pan before adding the onion. Over high heat, cook the onion until golden, then reduce the heat to the lowest setting.

3. Now cover with a lid and cook over low heat for another 40 minutes, until the onions begin to caramelize. The onions should always be floating in the oil, so add more oil periodically.

4. Transfer the ready onion into prepared sterile jars, fill with oil to the top, and seal with sterile lids for winter storage. Done!
