Roasted Chestnuts
Description
This recipe won't take much time. To make roasted chestnuts, first make sure the chestnuts are edible in the first place. You can always buy edible chestnuts at the market or in a store. The simplest way to roast them is in a frying pan, but you can also roast them on a baking sheet in the oven. You can later use the chestnuts to make porridge, purée, or cream soup. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Rinse the chestnuts and pat them dry. Make a cross-shaped cut on each one. Place them on a preheated dry skillet.
- 2
Step 2

Fry for 10–15 minutes until the chestnuts split open. Keep the lid on so the chestnuts don’t “fly off” the pan—they can pop up.
- 3
Step 3

In a cooked chestnut, the flesh slightly bulges outward; there is nothing wrong with that.
- 4
Step 4

Thanks to the cuts, they are easy to clean.
- 5
Step 5

You can eat ready-made roasted chestnuts as they are, or make them sweet like popcorn, or salted.
