Instructions

Step 1

1. First, take a fresh mullet (fried mullet is delicious both hot and cold, and if you prepare it with cornmeal, it will be a real festive dish).

Step 2

2. First, rinse the fish, remove the scales and internal organs, then cut the fish into pieces approximately three centimeters in size. Thoroughly rinse the fish pieces under running water, let the water drain off, gently dry the fish pieces with paper towels or a cloth, and season with salt. You can also use spices suitable for cooking fish.

Step 3

3. Sprinkle a small amount of cornmeal, sifted through a sieve, onto a plate or sheet of paper. Medium-ground cornmeal works well for this; if it's slightly reddish, that's even better. Coat the fish pieces in the cornmeal.

Step 4

4. Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat the pan, and once the coated fish pieces are placed in the pan, immediately reduce the heat to medium. Fry the fish pieces until golden brown with the lid closed. Once the fish is browned on all sides, transfer it onto a paper towel or parchment paper to absorb excess oil. The dish is ready.
