Yutaza
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. I recommend making yutaza with sweet tea; it also goes well with jam. Lenten yeast dough is rolled thin, brushed with oil, stretched by hand, and rolled into tubes. The tubes are placed on a rack—often shaped into rounds—and steamed like manti. Serve with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

In a deep bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Then add the flour gradually.
- 4
Step 4

First mix the dough with a spoon, then continue kneading by hand.
- 5
Step 5

The dough should be soft and elastic. If the dough sticks heavily to your hands, you can add a little more flour.
- 6
Step 6

Put the dough in a warm place for about 2 hours, covering it with a towel.
- 7
Step 7

Divide the risen dough into 4 parts.
- 8
Step 8

Stretch each piece of dough by hand into a thin circle or oval. I used a rolling pin.
- 9
Step 9

Brush the rolled-out dough with vegetable oil and stretch it by hand into a very thin sheet.
- 10
Step 10

Roll the dough into a roll; you can pinch the edges closed.
- 11
Step 11

Steam the tubetti over steam for 15–20 minutes. If you do not have a steamer, you can cook them the same way on a rack set over a pot of boiling water, covered with a tall lid.
- 12
Step 12

Yutaza is ready.
- 13
Step 13

I sprinkled powdered sugar on top.
