Italian orange cake
Description
Baking is simple and quick. I suggest making the Italian orange cake Ciambellone (ciambellone) today. There are actually quite a few recipes for this kind of bake; today we have one of the simplest, but no less tasty, versions—with orange juice and zest. The cake is tender, fragrant, and in a word—utterly delicious. For those who don’t have much time to bake but still want to treat their loved ones—the bake is ready. Bring it to the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Remove the zest from the orange and squeeze the juice; you will need 100 ml.
- 3
Step 3

Crack an egg into a deep bowl. Whisk the second egg separately, use half of it, and add that half to the first egg. Add the sugar to the same bowl.
- 4
Step 4

Beat the eggs with the sugar. Add the melted butter and orange juice. Beat everything together once more.
- 5
Step 5

Add the flour, baking powder, and zest.
- 6
Step 6

Mix everything until homogeneous.
- 7
Step 7

Pour the batter into a baking tin greased with oil. I have a silicone mould, so I didn’t grease it. Bake in the oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

The Italian orange pie is ready. If desired, you can dust the pie with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
- 9
Step 9

The baked goods are ready. Serve with tea.
