Description

There is one little trick when making authentic Indian flatbread. Only thanks to this secret will the flatbread turn out truly genuine (just like in traditional cuisine). To prepare Indian flatbread, you'll definitely need a kitchen stove and the simplest ingredients. Look, the baked dish is ready. Serve it at the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. Indian flatbread is also called "chapati," and it is made with just three ingredients: flour, water, and butter. Salt is added to taste.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

    2. Pour the flour into a container where you will knead the dough. Gradually add water and knead a firm dough. The exact amount of water is not specified, as the dough will absorb as much water as it needs. I add one teaspoon of clarified butter.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    3. Add a pinch of salt and knead the dough, gradually pouring in water.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

    4. When the dough stops sticking to your hands — it's ready.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

    5. Pinch off a small portion (about the size of a ping-pong ball) and roll it into a ball with your hands, then flatten it with a rolling pin.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

    6. The thickness of the flatbread should not exceed 2 mm.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

    7. Then we send our pancake to fry directly on the skillet without oil.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

    8. Flip to the other side and fry until golden brown as well.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

    9. Then comes the most interesting part (I always call my daughter to watch this simple culinary trick): place the flatbread on the stove with tongs and turn on the heat. The flatbread will start bubbling and puffing up like a pillow. As soon as it inflates, transfer it to a plate and prick it.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

    10. Add a piece of butter—your flatbread is ready! While one is frying, you can roll out and prepare the next one. After frying, stack them on top of each other so the flatbreads absorb the butter.
