Whole roasted turkey in the oven
Description
A whole turkey roasted in the oven turns out tender and juicy if you follow each step in sequence. Make sure it doesn't burn, don't overcook it, but also don't take it out too early. Before you start cooking the turkey, preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Coarsely chop the onion. Gut the turkey. Wash it. Place the chopped onion inside the cavity. Season with salt and pepper. Tie the turkey's legs.
- 2
Step 2

Mix mayonnaise with garlic powder and salt.
- 3
Step 3

Brush the turkey with mayonnaise. Set aside. While the turkey is absorbing the mayonnaise, cook the rice.
- 4
Step 4

Let the cooked rice cool. Slice the carrots into rings.

Step 5

Add carrots and rice to the onion under the turkey. The rice can be neatly placed between the turkey's legs. Roast the turkey in a preheated oven at 250°C (480°F) for 1.5 hours. Then reduce the heat to 180–200°C (350–400°F) and continue roasting for another 3 hours. Serve the cooked turkey on a large platter, garnished with vegetables.
