Turkey stewed with potatoes
Description
For cooking this dish, I recommend using unusual spices. I use basturma spices. Usually, meat is coated with these spices to dry it, but I've found that adding this spice mix to stewed meat and vegetable stews works wonderfully. It turns out extremely tasty and aromatic. Give it a try!
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

We wash the poultry meat and cut it into small pieces.
- 2
Step 2

Peel and cut the carrots into small sticks. It's better to cut them not too large, or use a grater, so that the carrots have time to reach the desired softness. Many people don't like carrot pieces in dishes, so it's better to use fine chopping or a grater.
- 3
Step 3

Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings.
- 4
Step 4

In a large heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil. Lightly sauté the onion and carrots in it.
- 5
Step 5

When the vegetables have softened slightly, add the turkey meat. It's important not to salt the meat, so it won't release its juices. Mix the meat with the vegetables and sauté it (without covering with a lid).
- 6
Step 6

Pour in boiling water. We use it because meat does not tolerate raw water. Simmer the meat under a lid, adding spices and salt, for about 30 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

While the meat is simmering, peel and prepare the potatoes. Cut them into cubes, add to the pot, and mix with the meat and vegetables.
- 8
Step 8

Add a little more water and salt. Simmer until the potatoes are cooked.

Step 9

Serve the dish at the table. It turns out very tasty. My secret ingredient in this dish is basturma spice. I discovered it a long time ago, and now I only buy this one. It's not an industrial spice. I get it at the spice shop in the market. It goes very well with such dishes and with stewed meat.
