Turkey for Thanksgiving
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Turkey is the main dish of the Thanksgiving holiday table. Usually, the bird is served on a large, beautiful platter after all the other dishes have already been brought to the table. The host carves the turkey, starting with the breast, and serves it onto guests' plates. I hope you enjoy it. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Butcher the turkey carcass. Remove the neck and innards.
- 2
Step 2

Before baking the turkey, it should be marinated. Pour water into a large container, add salt, sugar, garlic pressed through a garlic press, peppercorns, one cinnamon stick, sliced orange, and onion. Place the cleaned turkey into the marinade. Refrigerate for 1 day.
- 3
Step 3

After 24 hours, remove the turkey from the marinade, rinse thoroughly, and dry with paper towels. Let the bird rest for about an hour.
- 4
Step 4

Cut the celery, onion, carrots, and oranges into medium pieces.
- 5
Step 5

Fill the cavity with vegetables and fruits, add thyme.
- 6
Step 6

Line a baking sheet with foil and place the turkey on it, breast side up. Brush the bird with melted butter.
- 7
Step 7

Pour white wine over the foil, wrap the bird in the foil, tucking the edges toward the center. Bake in the oven at 220 degrees. The total baking time is calculated based on the bird's weight: 1 kg = 30 minutes of baking. 40 minutes before the end, brush the turkey with the remaining melted butter.
- 8
Step 8

Check the meat's doneness with a toothpick. If pink liquid comes out when you pierce it, it needs more time in the oven; if the liquid is clear, it's done!
- 9
Step 9

The cooked turkey should rest under a towel for about 30-40 minutes to make the meat juicier.
- 10
Step 10

Can be served.
