Crispy Angel Wings
Description
The pastry is quick and easy to prepare. The dough for chvorost contains only a small amount of sugar, so you can control the sweetness by adjusting the amount of powdered sugar. It's best to sprinkle powdered sugar over cooled chvorost to prevent it from melting. The dough becomes crispy thanks to the addition of alcohol. Vodka can be substituted with rum, for example. However, in this case, it's recommended to add a bit of vanilla to tone down the strong rum flavor. The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

To prepare the dough, sift the flour into a clean, dry bowl. Break two eggs into it and mix the dough. Then pour in a tablespoon of vodka and add sugar.
- 2
Step 2

The dough should be quite thick, so it's more convenient to knead it by hand. Dust the work surface with flour and knead the dough. Then roll it out into a sheet about 0.5 centimeter thick.

Step 3

Cut the dough into strips about 8–9 centimeters long and approximately 4–5 centimeters wide. Make a 4-centimeter-long longitudinal slit in the center of each strip, then thread one end of the strip through the slit to create a decorative shape. Heat several tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan and place the crullers into the hot oil.

Step 4

On a standard frying pan, you can fry 4-5 pieces of frybread at a time. They should float slightly in the oil. Fry the frybread on both sides until golden brown. Place the cooked pieces on a paper towel. Then sprinkle the pile of frybread with powdered sugar.
