
Bread sticks with cheese
Description
It goes perfectly with tea and coffee. Cheese breadsticks are a versatile snack that can appeal to many. A big plus is that it’s meat-free (handy if any of your guests are vegetarian). Even so, this kind of snack holds everyone’s interest! A tempting look and the flavor of mozzarella make a lovely pair. It’s always a hit, especially with a good sauce on the side. Enjoy! Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Step 1

To make breadsticks, first cut the mozzarella cheese into thin sticks. Roll out half of the dough (half of the 450 g batch) into a rectangle (20 × 40 cm), then cut the dough into strips 5 cm wide and 20 cm long (as shown in the photo). Place the cheese in the centre of each strip of dough and seal it shut.

Brush the sticks you’ve formed with olive oil and generously sprinkle them with garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Then lay the sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle them with grated Parmesan.

Put the sticks in the oven preheated to 220 degrees without delay. IMPORTANT: remember to reduce the temperature to 170 degrees once the sticks are in the oven. Bake the sticks for 15–20 minutes until the dough turns golden brown. Meanwhile, start preparing the second batch of breadsticks.

Serve the sticks cooled. Alongside the sticks, it is best to make a simple light sauce—for example, a tomato sauce.
