Breadsticks with garlic and cheese
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. In a large bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups of flour, wheat germ, yeast, and salt. In a saucepan, bring water, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and honey to 120–130 degrees Fahrenheit and add to the dry ingredients, kneading until a smooth homogeneous mass is obtained. Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading for another 4–6 minutes to get a soft elastic dough. The dough is ready, but it is better to let it rest. Cover it with a towel and let it stand for about 10 minutes. Roll out the dough, shaping it into a 15 × 10 rectangle. Place the rectangles on a greased baking sheet, press so the dough sits tightly on the baking sheet, brush the top with oil, and sprinkle with finely chopped parsley, basil, and garlic. Cover and leave in a warm place to rise for about 30 minutes. Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses. Put back in the oven and bake for another 3–5 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into 20 sticks and serve hot. Serve the appetizer at the table.
