Bread casserole
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. Preparing such a casserole is a great way to use stale bread, which after adding a few affordable ingredients turns into a new and incredibly tasty dish. I recommend trying Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. For this dish you can choose not only wheat bread, but also rye bread. It is also convenient to use stale (hard) bread.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the bread into small cubes, pour milk over it, stir, and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Separate the eggs into yolks and whites, adding the yolks to the soaked bread. Place the whites in a separate container, and together with the yolks, stir paprika and dried basil into the bread mixture.
- 4
Step 4

Grate the cheese on a fine grater and add about two‑thirds of it (the rest will be needed for sprinkling the casserole) to the bread‑egg mixture, stir.
- 5
Step 5

Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt into a stable foam and gradually fold them into the bread dough, gently mixing it from bottom to top.
- 6
Step 6

Place the resulting mixture into the prepared pan (silicone pans do not need to be greased), sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on top, and put it in a preheated oven at 200 °C.
- 7
Step 7

Bake the bread casserole for 20–30 minutes until a golden crust forms. Serve the dish hot, accompanied by sour cream or your favorite sauce.
