Khavavshi
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. Here's a very simple recipe for hawawshi, famous Egyptian stuffed buns, which probably every visitor to the land of pyramids has tried. Actually, making hawawshi is very easy: you can bake a whole heap in just one hour. I recommend serving hawawshi warm, although some people also enjoy them cooled down.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Mix the flour, butter, salt, and pepper.
- 2
Step 2

Mix well.
- 3
Step 3

Add warm water and knead the dough by hand.
- 4
Step 4

Divide the resulting dough into 16 equal parts.
- 5
Step 5

Now you can prepare the filling. Dice the tomatoes (without seeds and liquid) and peppers, grate the carrots, finely chop the onion. Finely chop the celery as well. The chopping should be fine—there are no large pieces in havavshi. You can add some herbs.
- 6
Step 6

Mix the ground beef thoroughly with spices, salt, and pepper.
- 7
Step 7

Mix the meat with the vegetables.
- 8
Step 8

Divide the filling into 16 parts as well. You will end up with 16 dough balls and 16 filling balls.
- 9
Step 9

Next, it's very simple. Take a piece of dough and place it on a lightly oiled work surface.
- 10
Step 10

Roll out thinly.
- 11
Step 11

Place the filling carefully in the center.
- 12
Step 12

The filling should be slightly flattened.

Fold into a turnover. It's simple: cover the filling with the edges of the dough from above.
- 14
Step 14

Place the resulting buns on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees.
- 15
Step 15

Havavshi are ready!
