
Hungarian-style beef goulash

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Here is a classic recipe for Hungarian-style beef goulash. The result is a fairly thick and rich stew, although you can adjust the thickness to your preference by adding more or less water/broth. Goulash is suitable for both lunch and dinner. Happy cooking! Rinse the meat and pat it dry. Cut into medium cubes.

Dice the tomatoes.

Remove the seeds from the sweet pepper and also cut it into cubes.

Finely chop the onion.

Cut the potatoes into large cubes.

Grind the garlic.

Heat the oil in a deep saucepan. Sauté the onion until soft, lightly salted. Remove from heat, add paprika and mix well.

Sear the beef in a frying pan until browned. Cook in vegetable oil.

Transfer the meat to a pot with onions, add garlic.

Gradually add the broth as it evaporates. The meat should not boil in water, but rather simmer! Cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat for about 1 hour. Then add the potatoes and sauté over medium heat for 5 minutes.

Add tomatoes and peppers, pour in tomato paste and season with salt. Mix and add broth until it just covers the vegetables. Bring to a boil and cook for another 15–20 minutes. Simmer over low heat, covered, until the potatoes are tender. Then remove the goulash from heat and let it steep, covered, for 15 minutes.
