Beef goulash in the oven
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Cut the meat into pieces, peel and chop the onion and carrots. Sear the meat pieces in hot oil, add spices and vegetables, then simmer until the vegetables are tender. Transfer the mixture into baking pots, pour in broth, and bake in the oven for an hour. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Cut the beef (I used chuck) into cubes. Remove the toughest sinews. Thin membranes don't need to be trimmed—they will soften during stewing and become very tender.
- 2
Step 2

Slice the onion into half-rings.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the carrots into strips.
- 4
Step 4

Add spices and salt to the meat. Mix well and start frying immediately.
- 5
Step 5

On a well-heated pan with vegetable oil, sear the meat on all sides.
- 6
Step 6

Add the onion and carrots. Simmer together for 5 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Place the meat in a casserole dish. Pour the broth into the frying pan where you fried the meat. Bring to a boil, stirring.
- 8
Step 8

Add this boiling broth to the meat in the pot, but only enough to fill 3/4 of the pot. If you add more broth, it will boil over during cooking and spill all over your oven. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Cover the pot and bake the stew in the oven for about 1 hour.

Step 9

Serve hot. Very tasty. Any grain works well as a side dish.
