    Prepare all the ingredients. Wash all the vegetables in advance and dry them.

    Slice the tomatoes into medium pieces. Transfer to a heavy-bottomed pot. Cover with a lid.

    Simmer over medium heat until tender. The tomatoes should release their juice. This will take approximately 10-12 minutes.

    Pass the tomatoes through a fine sieve to remove seeds and skins.

    Pour the resulting tomato puree back into the saucepan.

    Peel the garlic and slice it into thin pieces. Slice the chili pepper into rings, removing the seeds if you don't want the sauce too spicy. Trim the tough stems from the herbs and use only the leaves. Cut the bell pepper into medium-sized pieces. Transfer all the prepared ingredients into a blender.

    Add the resulting mixture to the tomato puree. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat.
