
Georgian cheese khachapuri
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. Adjarian-style khachapuri turn out tasty and juicy. It is important to note that they must be made with young Imeretian cheese. You can add herbs or spinach to taste. Khachapuri are quite large and filling, so for many they can serve as a standalone dish.

Step 1
In a bowl, mix 1/2 liter of warm water and warm milk, add yeast, sugar, and oil. Knead the dough. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5 hours, then punch it down and let it rise for another 1.5 hours.

Grate the cheese, add 1/2 cup of water, and mix until a smooth paste is obtained.

Divide the dough into pieces of about 200 g each. Roll out each piece, fold the edges into a roll, and seal the edges to form a boat shape. Add cheese inside and bake in a preheated pan at 200°C for 15 minutes.

When the khachapuri are browned, crack 1 egg into each and return to the oven for 3 minutes. Place a piece of butter on each khachapuri before serving.

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
