
Pears in sugar syrup

Prepare all the ingredients.

Wash the pears, peel them, and remove the cores.

Cut the pears into quarters.

To keep the pears from browning while you prepare them all, pour water into a deep bowl and add citric acid. Stir, then place the pears in the bowl.

When all the pears are prepared, transfer them to a clean sterilized jar. Add the vanilla pod.

Pour hot water to the very rim of the jar. Cover with the lid and let stand for 10 minutes.

Then pour off the water into a saucepan. Add sugar and citric acid and bring to a boil.

Pour the resulting hot syrup into the jar.

Seal the jar tightly, turn it upside down, and wrap it in a towel. Leave it like that until completely cooled.
