Pears in cranberry sauce
Description
This recipe won't take much time. Place pears in a large saucepan. Add enough water to cover the pears (about 4 cups). Add sugar, cinnamon, citrus peels, honey, and lemon juice. Using a knife, scrape out the vanilla seeds and add them to the saucepan along with the pod. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer until pears are tender, about 10 minutes. Add fresh cranberries and cook until berries are softened but still hold their shape, about 3 minutes. Transfer pears to a serving dish. Pour the cranberry sauce over the pears. Add the tea bag and dried cranberries, if using. Let cool for 15 minutes. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Before serving, remove the vanilla pod, cinnamon stick, citrus peels, and tea bag. Arrange pears with syrup and cranberries on a serving dish, add yogurt, sour cream, or cheese, and serve chilled.
