Grissini with sesame
Description
A tasty appetizer for any gathering. Italian cuisine offers many interesting and delicious dishes that have become very popular here as well, and this sesame grissini recipe spread thanks to pizzerias and cafés that serve this baked good as a snack. You can buy them at the store, but the best option is to make them yourself—it really is not difficult at all, believe me. Make them with cheese, cumin, herbs, poppy seeds, or, as in this recipe, sesame; with any toppings or none at all, these sticks turn out incredibly tasty and aromatic. And if a reunion with old friends is coming up, you will not want to skip this simple sesame grissini recipe—they pair wonderfully with wine and go very well with tea too. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, prepare the dough for grissini. Heat the water (to about 40 degrees) and dissolve the yeast in it. Add salt, sugar, and olive oil to this mixture, add the flour, and knead a soft, elastic dough.
- 2
Step 2

Divide the almost-ready dough into 2 equal parts; add caraway and paprika to one part, and add nothing to the other.
- 3
Step 3

And now knead each portion thoroughly, cover the bowl of dough with a towel, and leave it in a warm place for 40 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

When the time is up, punch down the dough and place it back in a warm place for another 30–40 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

Now you can continue with the preparation. Take the first half of the dough and roll it out into a sheet about half a centimeter thick. Cut it into strips, and repeat the same with the second half of the dough.
- 6
Step 6

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, twist the strips of dough into ropes, and place them on the baking sheet. Leave in a warm place for 15–20 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Then brush them with olive oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds and salt. Place in an oven preheated to 220°C and bake for 8–10 minutes. Your grissini are ready—enjoy!
