First, we need to prepare the vegetables. To do this, peel the onion and cut it into medium-sized cubes. Peel the carrot as well and grate it on a coarse grater.

Then we cut the chicken breast into small cubes, transfer it to the onion and carrots, add pepper and basil, and mix everything thoroughly.

Pour half a glass of water into the pot and add the meat with vegetables. Cover with a lid and place in the oven for 1 hour at a temperature of 220-230 degrees.

After the time has elapsed, carefully remove the casserole dish from the oven and add the previously rinsed buckwheat. Pour in another half cup of boiling water (so that the liquid level is 1–1.5 cm below the rim), add salt, gently stir, and place a piece of butter on top. Now return it to the oven, covered with a lid. Cook for another 30 minutes, then turn off the heat and let the casserole stand in the oven for 20 minutes.
