Greek breakfast
Description
A delicious addition to everyday and festive dishes. Of course, making yeast bagels for breakfast on a workday isn't quite practical—after all, the dough requires time. But a sauce based on Greek yogurt can easily be prepared, for example, to serve with toast. As for the bagels, save them for weekends. Anyway, see for yourself—it's perfect with pasta, meat, and vegetables.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Although we will be using yeast dough, the recipe won't take that much time. First, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water.
- 2
Step 2
Add olive oil, salt, and sifted flour next. Knead the dough.
- 3
Step 3
Turn on the oven and preheat it to 240 degrees.
- 4
Step 4
Divide the dough into small balls, roll into ropes, and shape into rings. These are traditional Greek koulouri.
- 5
Step 5
Using a brush, brush the bagels with warm water and generously sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- 6
Step 6
Bake the bagels for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
- 7
Step 7
Meanwhile, you can prepare another highlight of Greek cuisine. Let's make tzatziki — a delicious and flavorful sauce. Place the yogurt into a deep bowl.
- 8
Step 8
Add the garlic pressed through a press and the cucumber grated on a fine grater.
- 9
Step 9
Pour in olive oil and a little wine vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything thoroughly. Before serving, you can add olives or black olives.
