Beef in cranberry sauce
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Any boneless beef cut will work for this dish. You can use not only fresh but also frozen cranberries. The taste of the finished beef will directly depend on the quality, variety, and aroma of the wine, so choose it carefully. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making beef in cranberry sauce.
- 2
Step 2

Put flour into a plate, add salt and black pepper, mix.
- 3
Step 3

Trim the beef of membranes and tendons, wash and dry. Roll the piece in the flour mixture on all sides.
- 4
Step 4

Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat it over high heat. Sear the beef on all sides until a golden-brown crust forms, to lock in the meat juices. Remove from the pan and place onto a plate, then cover with a lid.
- 5
Step 5

Peel the onion and slice it into thin half-rings. Reduce the heat to medium and add the onion to the pan after frying the meat.
- 6
Step 6

Sauté the onion, stirring, for 7 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Transfer the fried onion and fried beef to a heavy-bottomed pot.
- 8
Step 8

Pour red wine into a saucepan.
- 9
Step 9

Add water to the pot with meat and wine.
- 10
Step 10

Place over medium heat, bring to a boil, season with salt and pepper. Cover with a lid and cook for 1.5 hours, turning the meat several times during this time.
- 11
Step 11

Mash the cranberries.
- 12
Step 12

Remove the lid and check the meat. If it is tender, it's done. If not, cook a little longer.
- 13
Step 13

Place the mashed cranberries in the pot with the beef and mix. Add sugar to taste.
- 14
Step 14

Simmer the beef for another 15 minutes and remove from heat.
- 15
Step 15

Done.
