
Beef stewed in beer with onions
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Beef and beer are a wonderful combination! Even beef of not the highest quality acquires an exquisite flavor when cooked in beer. Thyme and rosemary give the dish a sophisticated aroma. The finished dish can be served at the table.

1. Preheat the oven to 165 degrees. Peel and coarsely chop the onion. Peel and slice the garlic cloves. Heat the oil in a large pot over high heat. Season the beef well with salt and pepper. Sear the meat on both sides, about 2 minutes per side. Remove the meat from the pot. Reduce the heat to medium.

2. Add chopped onions and garlic to a hot saucepan. Stir for 30 seconds. Pour in the beer, add thyme, rosemary, and salt to taste—about 1 teaspoon. Do not over-salt!

3. Place the beef into the pot, pressing it down to submerge it in the liquid. Cover with a lid and cook in the oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until the meat is tender.

4. Shred the cooked meat with two forks.

5. Place the beef with onions onto plates and pour over the remaining cooking sauce. Serve the beef with slices of toasted white bread and mashed potatoes or egg noodles, if desired. A spinach salad is the perfect accompaniment to this dish.
