Hot Rolls
Description
The appetizer is quick and easy to prepare. Hot rolls (tempura rolls) are a type of sushi; what sets them apart is that they are fried in scorching hot oil in just a matter of seconds. That is enough for the batter, and there is absolutely no need to fry the filling. I like rolls with red fish, cucumber, and cream cheese best of all. A more budget-friendly version with processed cream cheese and crab sticks or chicken also turns out well. You can also make any other filling, adding, for example, avocado or shrimp. Special flakes are provided for breading, but you can replace them with breadcrumbs, cornflakes, or just wheat flour. The batter is made from store-bought tempura flour; you can also make tempura flour yourself or use one of the many available tempura batter variations, of which there are plenty of recipes online. Appetizing, juicy hot rolls with a pleasant crispy crust will leave no one indifferent. Very delicious! Be sure to try them! To have enough for everyone, make several rolls, with different fillings if you like. Serve at the table while still warm. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Rinse the rice and transfer it to a kazán or a heavy-bottomed pot.
- 3
Step 3

Add water and, once it comes to a boil, cook covered over low heat for 15 minutes (do not stir the rice during this process!). Then remove from the heat and let stand covered for another 15 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Add rice vinegar and mix with a spatula.
- 5
Step 5

Prepare the filling.
- 6
Step 6

Mix the tempura flour with cold water and add salt to taste.
- 7
Step 7

Lay out a rolling mat for forming rolls. Place the nori on top with the smooth side facing down.
- 8
Step 8

Spread the cooked rice in an even layer, leaving about 2 cm from one edge. You will need approximately 150 grams of rice for one sheet of nori.
- 9
Step 9

Place the filling on the rice, closer to one edge: pieces of fish, cucumber cut into long thin strips, and cream cheese.
- 10
Step 10

Carefully roll the roll using the mat. Add a little rice along the edges so the filling doesn't peek out.
- 11
Step 11

Cut each roll in half, then dip it first in the batter, starting from the ends, and then coat in the breadcrumbs.
- 12
Step 12

Thus, prepare all the rolls.
- 13
Step 13

Deep-fry the rolls on all sides, then transfer them to paper towels. Cut into pieces and serve immediately.
- 14
Step 14

Hot rolls are ready.
