Baked pink salmon with potatoes

Description

The most interesting thing is that this dish can be prepared with either smoked or fresh pink salmon. Needless to say, the taste turns out completely different... With smoked salmon it's more piquant, with fresh—more delicate. I can't even decide which one is better! Other salmon species can also be used in this recipe for baked pink salmon with potatoes. However, pink salmon is more commonly available in our stores and more affordable, so that's usually what I use. So, if you'd like to learn how to make it,

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Cut the smoked pink salmon fillet into thin petals.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Chop the onion — sometimes I mince it very finely (because of the kids ;)), sometimes I cut it into fairly large half-rings or slices.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    Wash and peel the potatoes.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

And slice it into thin circles.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Place all the ingredients in a greased baking dish in layers. The first layer is potatoes, the last layer is cheese. Each ingredient should be used in 2-3 layers. Pour over the mixture of milk and cream (salted, with added pepper and nutmeg).

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Bake in a preheated oven at 180–200°C for about an hour. For the first half hour, you can cover with foil, then remove it to form a golden crust—like this. Check for doneness by testing the potatoes: if they're easily pierced with a fork or toothpick, the dish is ready.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Transfer the finished dish onto plates using a spatula, pour over the butter sauce that has collected at the bottom of the baking dish, and serve immediately.
