Cabbage rolls from fresh cabbage for freezing
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. There's no need to thaw the cabbage rolls before cooking. And the leftover small cabbage leaves, by the way, can also be frozen, then taken out together with the cabbage rolls and used to line the bottom of the pot. The cooking time for cabbage rolls depends on the cabbage variety, but keep in mind that frozen cabbage rolls cook slightly faster than fresh ones. Freeze them without hesitation, as it's easy, simple, and saves a lot of time. Serve the finished dish at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Take a head of cabbage, cut out the core from the center, place it in a pot, and cover with cold water. Once the water comes to a boil, add salt and cook for 10–15 minutes. As soon as the outer leaves are blanched, use a fork to lift them out and transfer to a colander. Continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes, then remove a few more leaves, repeating this process until you have enough leaves ready. When only a small core remains, strip the remaining leaves and place them at the bottom of the pot before arranging the cabbage rolls on top—this will result in delicious stewed cabbage in sauce.

Step 3

Dice the onion and grate the carrot. Sauté the vegetables in vegetable oil until soft.
- 4
Step 4

Add the sautéed vegetables, rice cooked until half-done, crushed garlic, salt, and spices to taste to the minced meat.
- 5
Step 5

Mix everything well.
- 6
Step 6

Remove the thick upper part, the so-called "vein," from the cabbage leaves. Now take a leaf and place a portion of the filling in the center.
- 7
Step 7

Fold into a triangle.
- 8
Step 8

And so on until the filling is used up. Cabbage rolls made from fresh cabbage for winter are ready.
- 9
Step 9

At this stage, you can freeze part or all of the cabbage rolls. Simply place them in a single layer on a wooden board and put them in the freezer. After some time, take them out and pack them into bags.
