Beef Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Description
I love stuffed cabbage rolls because they make a hearty and complete dish, perfect for lunch or dinner for the whole family. You can enrich the gentle tomato sauce with other vegetables of your choice, if desired, to make the sauce more flavorful. By the way, you can add not only sautéed onions to the filling, as in this recipe, but raw onions as well. Be sure to try it if you haven't made stuffed cabbage rolls yet.
Instructions

Step 1

1. Prepare a large pot, pour water into it, and bring to a boil. Place the cabbage into the water for a few minutes.

Step 2

2. Carefully remove it from the water and, while still hot, peel off the leaves one by one. Trim off the tough parts with a knife. If the leaves start to come off poorly, return the cabbage to the water again.

Step 3

3. Meanwhile, boil the rice until half-cooked.

Step 4

4. Add rice to the bowl with the minced meat. Add salt, pepper, and spices to taste.

Step 5

5. You can mince the onion together with the meat, but I prefer to sauté it beforehand. Mix everything thoroughly. The filling is ready.

Step 6

6. Take a cabbage leaf, place the filling on the edge, and carefully roll it up.

Step 7

Step 8

8. Place the ready cabbage rolls into a thick-bottomed heatproof dish.

Step 9

9. To prepare the sauce, sauté the onion, sliced into half-rings, in vegetable oil. Wash the tomatoes, remove the skin, and blend in a blender.
- 10
Step 10

10. Pour the tomato juice into the frying pan. Add salt, spices, and herbs. For a more intense color, you can add a little tomato paste.

Step 11

11. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls, cover the dish with a lid, and place it in the oven. Bake at 170 degrees for about 1.5–2 hours (depending on your preferred tenderness of the cabbage).
