Gokaya
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. I first heard about this recipe from an enthusiastic friend who tried making gokaya for the first time and was amazed by the result. I also enjoyed the taste of these flatbreads. Of course, there's nothing extraordinary about them, but as an alternative to bread or toast, they're quite good. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Mix the flour, baking soda, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Melt the butter (I find it convenient to melt it in the microwave) and add to the dry ingredients. Then pour in the warm water and mix everything thoroughly.
- 3
Step 3

If necessary, add a little more flour and knead an elastic dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes in a warm place.
- 4
Step 4

Then roll out the dough into a long oval. Cut it in half. Then fold each part in half again lengthwise and roll into a roll.
- 5
Step 5

We ended up with two such rolls.
- 6
Step 6

Now roll out each roll thinly.
- 7
Step 7

Sear in a skillet until golden brown. Note: this will take only a few minutes if your skillet is properly preheated, so watch carefully to avoid burning.
- 8
Step 8

Gokaya is ready. Enjoy your meal!
