
Gyros with potatoes and Feta cheese
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Gyros is a dish of Greek cuisine, similar to the Russian shawarma or shaverma. Serve hot.

1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Grate the cucumber on a grater and squeeze out the moisture through gauze.

2. Mix yogurt, chopped cucumber, minced garlic, 2 teaspoons of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Set aside.

3. Place the potatoes in a saucepan and cover with water. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer until tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Meanwhile, place the remaining 8 garlic cloves and the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in a small skillet. Cook the garlic over medium heat, stirring, until golden, about 5 minutes.

4. Drain the potatoes, setting aside 1/4 cup of the potato water. Return the potatoes to the pot. Add the garlic with butter, feta cheese, and chopped onion.

5. Mash with a fork until smooth, like a puree. Cover with a lid and keep warm.

6. Wrap the pita in foil and heat in the oven for about 10 minutes.

7. Place 2 tablespoons of cucumber mixture on each pita. Divide half of the salad and chopped tomatoes among the 4 pitas. Top with 1/4 of the potato mixture. Divide the remaining cucumber mixture, salad, and tomatoes among the pitas, roll up, and serve.
